They’ll never say that she must sit, thusly, and stand, just this way, and never raise her voice nor indeed speak much at all, for speaking moves the veil over her nose a little at a time, and her father will beat her if ever it falls in public.

There is none of that nonsense here. Here the walls are pale blue, like the sky, like the eggshells of the little birds who fascinate her so because their chests are red and she can see their hearts leaping, pounding with terror underneath the silky smooth feathers whenever she draws near. She both needs and cannot stomach that sound, that pulse, drumbeats building to a single rolling tone until she aches for them to stop. It’s usually then that she puts a hand out, faster than the poor thing could ever hope to see, and crushes the noise out of it.

She hates noise of any kind. Especially yelling. She thinks of yelling, sometimes, when she kills the birds. It makes her feel strangely guilty. They’re pretty and innocent.

In the interest of pretending that I care about the upcoming Mortal Kombat vs DC game, I have uploaded over 100 screencaptures from the mini-trailer to the image gallery. I bet you didn’t even know we HAD an image gallery.

The trailer makes me a sad panda. I just hope that the actually gameplay isn’t as stiff and blocky as the trailer looks. Still, I may have to rent it just for the pleasure of beating up Batman because I think he’s a dick. Yeah, I’m gunnin’ for you, Batboy and your little sidekick too.

This video is great because of all the rarer costumes involved. That’s the first MK:Deception Sub-Zero that I’ve seen thus far. Taken at Anime Festival ‘06.

So what is it, you ask? As much canon Sub-Zero information as I could cram into a five minute video. It’s all chronologically arranged, so you can see what was reconned and when. I wanted to make a good resource for writers trying to get their facts straight.

I didn’t add the Noob Saibot info though, mostly because of size constraints. I’d like to make a full 10 minute video soon, adding in both the elder Sub-Zero and Frost’s stories.

Kitana Design

I chose this one because I like the level of detail, and it’s a nice retooling without straying too far from Kitana’s original design.

Sub-Zero paused in the doorway, hesitant to leave the house in its undignified state but knew there was nothing he could do to accommodate his own sensibilities without compromising his involvement. His gaze suddenly fixed upon the cat’s picture – a black kitten with jade eyes – and briefly wondered. Cats as pets was unusual here but then the old man seemed to have many unusual quirks.

A familiar impulse bid him to take the picture, preserve it from the ignoble end of being neglected in storage or thrown away and he wondered how it didn’t strike him as a morbid gesture. He knew some assassins who were fond of taking tokens to remember their victims including anything from a piece of jewellery to body parts. He kept things as well but they were reminders not trophies – gravestones to help him recall the faces, the lives. Sub-Zero liked to think remembering the faces would preserve his own humanity in the end: his last stab for redemption. It was too easy to become comfortable with murder. His brother had forgotten those he wronged and it had changed him irrevocably.
