Ultimate Mortal Kombat for the Nintendo DS

As you are probably aware of, MKO is reporting that IGN has updated their info on Ultimate Mortal KombatĀ coming out on the Nintendo DS. (If you weren’t aware, check out the RSS feed in our sidebar, and while you’re at it, sign up for our handy dandy feed.)
I haven’t been excited about a MK game in a long time (since Deadly Alliance, actually) but I can honestly say I’m really looking forward to this release. First off, it has Puzzle Kombat, which is my favorite MK Mini-Game, and then it’s a fully functioning arcade emulation of one of the best Mortal Kombat games, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. What more could my little heart desire?
The multiplayer is a big selling point for me. Although single-cartridge multi-player will only allow for four characters and one arena, it will still be a fun play. If you have two cartridges, you have access to all the characters and arenas, so now would be a good time to start nagging your friends to pick the game up when it comes out.
Alas, there isn’t much functionality for the second screen or the stylus, but I wasn’t expecting much because it is a pretty close port from the arcade. After the failure of the Wii-remote to make Mortal Kombat Armageddon more fun, I can’t say I’m all that disappointed.
Since the game is coming out just before the holidays, you will all have a chance to save your pennies.
